Submitting a Project to the Bay Area IRWMP

Project proponents who would like to propose a project not already included in the Bay Area IRWM Plan may can contact mbouc@pw.cccounty.us to find out how to submit a project.

The Bay Area IRWMP is not currently accepting projects because the Coordinating Commitee (CC) is refining the project submittal, review and prioitization procedures. The CC is also waiting for the Proposition 84 and 1E guidelines to be completed by the State Department of Water Resources (DWR). These guidelines will likely require modifictions to the information needed for the project inclusion in the Plan.

The past process for submitting new projects to the Bay Area IRWMP involves five steps:

  • 1) Complete a Project Information Template for the proposed project.
  • 2) Determine which FAD is the most appropriate 'house' for the project.
  • 3) Submit the project to mbouc@pw.cccounty.us and identify the appropriate FAD.
  • 4) The IRWMP team will evaluate the project using that FAD's assessment criteria to determine its priority within the FAD inventory.
  • 5) If the project is identified as a high priority project in that FAD, it will be assessed and included in the IRWMP.

If you want to submit a project, please contact mbouc@pw.cccounty.us.

Project Information Required

Water management projects proposed under the Bay Area IRWMP are recorded in a project database. Project participants collect and assemble project-specific information for the project database. Relevant information includes the following:

  • Project summary
  • Responsible and participating agencies
  • Water management strategies addressed
  • Purpose and need.
  • Project status and schedule.
  • Environmental compliance status.
  • Integration with other activities.
  • Cost and financing.
  • Impacts and benefits.
  • Statewide priorities (e.g., environmental justice benefits, implementation of basin plans/other major watershed/habitat plans, CALFED objectives).
  • Stakeholder involvement.
  • Documentation of feasibility
There will likely be a different Template for future project submittals for Prop. 84 and Prop 1E.
