Lower Silver Creek Reaches 4-6

Lower Silver Creek is a major tributary to Coyote Creek and drains a portion of the City of San Jose.  Lower Silver Creek, between I-680 and Lake Cunningham is divided into two phases.  The first phase begins at I-680 and ends at the confluence with North Babb Creek (Reach 4).  The second phase of the project begins at the North Babb Creek confluence and ends at Cunningham Avenue (Reaches 5-6).  The total length of the project is approximately 2.2 miles.

Over the past 50 years, Lower Silver Creek has experienced severe flooding that resulted in damage to residential, commercial and industrial properties. Because flooding is a major problem in this area, the Santa Clara Valley Water Districts is working in cooperation with the Natural Resource Conservation Service and Guadalupe Coyote Resource Conservation District on a project to protect the surrounding area from the 100-year flood event, improve stream habitat values, improve fisheries potential, and provide recreational access to the public.
