Water Supply and Water Quality Functional Area Document

The agencies participating in  development of this Water Supply and Water Quality Functional Area Document are water  management planning agencies that have been working with public agencies and stakeholder  groups in their service areas to develop regional integrated water management plans to  improve water supply reliability, protect water quality and achieve multiple benefits.  This  Functional Area Document is a Bay Area-wide planning effort that aims to integrate the water  management planning efforts of the following agencies:

  • Alameda County Water District (ACWD);
  • Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA);
  • Contra Costa Water District (CCWD);

The purpose of the Water Supply and Water Quality Functional Area Document of the Bay Area IRWMP is threefold: 1. Describe the water supply and water quality challenges faced by the Bay Area. 2. Document the Bay Area’s comprehensive water management strategy on both a local and regional level. 3. Discuss the Region’s plan for implementing comprehensive water management strategies to meet the water supply and water quality challenges identified. This document builds upon the individual and regional water resources planning efforts of the participating agencies and highlights common challenges and approaches to water management in the Bay Area.
